Defining reality - there's a battle over your life

There is a fierce battle over defining reality in your life.  The devil says, “Get real.  This is the way it is.”  Jesus says, “He’s a liar.  Let Me show you ultimate reality which trumps him.”  See previous post.

Truth = reality.  The New Testament word truth is aletheia: truth, reality, the unveiled reality lying at the basis of and agreeing with the manifested (Spiros Zodhiates, The Complete Word Study Dictionary, New Testament).

What about you?  How is the battle going?  Who or what is going to define reality for you?  Humans?  Circumstances?  Environment?  Personal history?  Fear?

ULTIMATE TRUTH-REALITY is found in the heart and mind of the Creator.  God was envisioning you and thinking thoughts about you before the foundation of the world (Eph. 1.4, Ps. 139.13-18)!  Now, a lot has happened since the world was created.  But Christ has come to restore everything.  In Christ, you are re-connected to the heart and mind of God in eternity past.  Christ links you to TRUTH-REALITY.

It’s a process that begins now through the born-again experience and unfolds as we walk with Christ.  It will carry through and continue unfolding in the new heavens and new earth.

For His glory and purpose, call upon the heart and mind of God for you to be progressively manifested.  Everything else that presents itself to you as “reality” is to be refused.  Lock it out of your mind and heart.  Open up exclusively to the heart and mind of God.

Master of molecules

Yes, “Jesus is Lord”.  He is also brilliant, resplendent with limitless knowledge, understanding, and wisdom.  I’m not entirely sure about bumper sticker theology, but if one must adhere theology to one’s bumper, let’s consider placing Jesus is Brilliant adjacent to Jesus is Lord.

Dallas Willard writes in The Divine Conspiracy that surely Jesus must be amused at what Nobel Prizes are awarded for today.

  • Jesus knew how to upgrade the molecular structure of ordinary water, instantaneously transforming it into matchless wine.
  • He knew how to utilize energy, multiply matter in the feeding of thousands with a few pieces of bread and fish.
  • He showed his mastery of the human body in transforming diseased tissue, restoring health and life.
  • He could overcome gravity as needed, suspending normal laws of water buoyancy.
  • Dangerous weather patterns were arrested with a powerful command.  Human suffering was cut short from a distance with a word.

Jesus has consummate mastery over every aspect of reality.  Willard writes that Jesus “is now supervising the entire course of world history (Revelation 1.5) while simultaneously preparing the rest of the universe for our future role in it (John 14.2).  He always has the best information on everything and certainly also on the things that matter most in human life.”

What information do we need from Him?  Is there something in our life or sphere of influence that requires the brilliance and mastery of Jesus?  Do we desire the good life and to be truly blessed?
